Terpological Review

Sour Diesel x GHOST OG = Earth OG

Sour Diesel x Pure Kush = Apple Kush

I have seen a few reviews on the Apple Earth strain & Honestly had to give my review, particularly of the flavor profile. Namely because people use what I call 'stoner nomenclature' to suss out the effects or aroma or taste of a strain by its name. Pink Lemonade for example, or Garlic Cookies (GMO) they're named associated with the aroma they kick out.

The breakdown of the parent strains is as follows. Earth OG is an 80/20 Indica Dominant Girl. Apple.Kush is a 70/30 Indica Dominant hybrid. Sour Diesel.is.our flavor and potency queen in this mash up, with a 90% sativa lean only 10% indica hybrid. These together push out our lovely Apple Earth which I am going to tentatively place at 70/30 indica dominant Hybrid. That said, it has a much more relaxing, immediately calming indica oriented experience, so I may be undershooting that number. However it does stand as a good.example as to why you cat simply look at the genetics of the parents and determine the outcome of the cannabis.

The extent to which you would have to comprehend the genetics using a punnett square for example, would be pages of work to finally see which genetics are most likely.to pop through in what combinations. Because these are hybrids, and were seeking characteristics thereof relative to the parents, this would naturally as the rest of Terpological protocol does go back to landrace. That's a lot of punnet squares. Although that would be an interesting project, to align various experiential characteristics with the punnett squares going back to landrace. I am gonna do that with some less complex genetics soon. I would also need to know which traits are dominant vs recessive to actually have some characteristics with which to work appropriately.

Stay tuned for that.

Well those very pleasingly aromatic very colorful bright vibrant pungent aromas typically result from sativa. Sativas tend to produce a more clear flavor profile simply due the nature of an Indica. Indicas are earthier by nature, aromatically, in taste and color. So the apple flavor expression on an indica lean, which I believe this leans around 70/30 indica dominant hybrid that apple has some of that earthy indica backing.

You get the fresh green apple taste still but it isn't an overpowering flavor experience like Blueberry Muffins. Rather, the Humulene and earthier notes in Apple Earth produce just that, an earthy herbal apple exhale. There is DEFINATELY an Apple Flavor when you exhale that slowly fades into the earthy Humulene standard indica flavor indica lovers all despise. Every now and then when the temp is just so, and the Terpenes mix just right, you get an inhale of that lovely apple and it isn't as earthy when you can pull that flavor from the inhale. I achieved this several times using low.temp start ups as well as cold starting if you don't go too crazy with the heat.

When you do get that more palatable twang of the fresh green apple it still ends up hollow tasting and filled in by the earthy Humulene & indica characteristic Terpene profile. Even though most will not get the Green Apple Inference, as it's very much melded into the traditional indica aroma, keeping just enough pop in the smell to stand apart from the earthier and more herbal leaning notes. At first I wasn't even sure what it was I tasted, I just knew it was sweet with a twang and was smothered in indica tastes, but sweet.

I genuinely can not find the genetics listed online for this strain. However, I did find recently that many companies take a single name and will apply.it to Kush strains. So I'm going to venture to guess, and the lineup seems correct that these parent genetics are an OG crossover with Sour Diesel. Give. What I know about how the industry in Maryland selects their cannabis strains amoungst the pool of "competitors" ***cough*** CONGLOMERATE cough*** I am aware that often times they take shortcuts to produce things more quickly. One being using only one unique profile. So using the same mother plant and different father plants. Our Diesel Mothers, and then cross her with OG Kush and cross her with Pure Kush.

These together give a wider range of Kush genetics leaning heavily indica and the psychoactivity produced from modern sour Diesel, DEFINATELY a more recreational one but also used medicinally. Sour Diesel is so liked due to its very intense aroma and matching experience. Sour Diesel also produces a very Skunky, sour lemony, Gassy Aroma with hints of herbal and woodiness. Maybe slight earthy exhales. It's no surprise that the Sour Diesel lacks earthiness given the expression of Apple Earth Phenotype aromatically, being a 90% sativa Dominant contributer.

I think it's extremely interesting how strive to indica hybridization works, because I haven't gotten a full understanding of what I know, let alone fully.comorehend everything about genetics in cannabis. We have a Sativa with a dominating hybrid sativa lean, nearly totally sativa at 90% sativa only 10% indica. When that is paired up with a 55/45 OG Kusn and a 75/25 imdica dominamt pure kush, it honeatly really does make intuitive sense that those parent genetics would produce a cannabis similar in aromatic and flavor expression to Apple Earth.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (6)

A slight but prominent when present apple Flavor that is diminished by earthy overtones that blends into an earthen apple exhale. The aroma is a slightly sweet, Uber gassy, with many herbal woodsy undertones. When you really smell and open you sinuses vs a waft smell it begins to break up and the lemon and piney notes that make up the overall aroma begin to be more apparent. The intensity of the lemon and piney aromas blend very seemlessly into the overall wafting aroma of the total experience.

Ibe DEFINATELY had strains that are just as sedating on that first hit, and I prefer to not have the psychoactive intensity that seems to be preferred by younger people. I prefer the indica leaning experience of Apple Earth, which is a 70/30 Indica dominant hybrid. I honestly expected a bit more of a psychoactive heady kick knowing the genetics but it is a very calming and relaxed buzz. It can come on with some intensity though after those first few hits. It sort of creeps up slowly, so it doesn't blast you all at once. Some people refer to creeper as what I call a sneak attack high. To me a creeper starts immediately but at a low level, with some calm relaxed feeling. Then as you smoke even after the hits you keep getting a lil more high but it isn't that super quick slap to the face. For a nice ride down to relaxing calm, I reccomend Apple Earth. I would imagine it'd be excellent for pain issues.

The beta Caryophyllene is the primary Terpene present in Apple Earth so we should expect from the drop seeing that on the profile a relaxing experience. That doesn't mean it can't have a super psychoactive kick, as some strains hit hard and fast and then pull you into sedation from stoned. Apple Earth certainly brings in the stoney feeling as well, but doesn't have that super intense sensations in the solar plexus which I call tactile psychoactivity. It's feeling sensations that aren't really there, but your convinced they are. It stats for me with the cooling sensation the smoke gives when I inhale, that sort of spreads from that central spot and becomes very intense, especially for an inexperienced user. Luckily, Apple Earth isn't all about that. The high maintains a calm indica lean. Beta Caryophyllene is 1.14%.

Limonene is present at 0.84%. when you think about limonene, remember that it and Caryophyllene and Myrcene are the bridge Terpenes. They are slightly different in their association between the leans, but limonene is the Terpene that really gives aromatic vibrance to a strain, and accents the other prominent notes like pinene heavily. In my honest take terpologically speaking, limonene is DEFINATELY more aligned with Sativa as it presents typically.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (8)

However remember that the unique aspect of limonene is there is a Limonene presentig for sativa andnine that presents indica. That indica has a raw rank mango leaning orange like citrus smell. The lemon with the rind on it. Sativa limonene is more potent and vibrant like a Lemon that is sliced open. The connection that Limonene has between indica and sativa is a key difference between that bridge Terpene and Myrcene and beta Caryophyllene.

When you consider all of this, it makes sense that modern science places indica as a branching out of the sativa charcteristic. An evolutionary adaptation as the cannabis moved around the globe from wherever it began, which is thought to be in WESTERN CHINA and spread from there. If indeed that is the birthplace of cannabis it would make logical sense and align with Terpological protocol. The Afghani area is too hot and dry and cold for sativa. An Indica can find a dry spot in the jungle landscape easier than sativa can find appropriate space to grow naturally in the desert steepes.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (9)

So, I honestly believe that indica is an evolutionary adaptation of the plant to further its spread by adapting to a less water friendly plant friendly environment. Also falls in line with the Terpological finding that sativa expresses on indica by diminishing indica characteristics or by presenting a sativa characteristic on the indica hybrid profile. However, save the bridge of beta Caryophyllene you don't see indica present over sativa in that manner. I have to find a linalool packed sativa, or better yet the most indica descriptive Terpene Humulene dominant or packed sativa hybrid. Sativa typically pushes dominant expression and even makes its presence felt in this 70/30 Very indica presenting lean.

Linalool, another indica presenting Terpene,.meaning characteristic of indica. It has the floral lavender aromatic profile. A strain heavy in linalool is Purple Obeah, and you really get the earthy floral Humulene linalool indica character. Linalool is present at 0.95%. Humulene, our other indica indicator that point to what extent indica is supported in your profile in sosfar as the Terpenes are concerned, tests at 0.32%. This is slightly unique for such a heavy indica lean at 70/30 but we can still see that the Humulene is presenting as secondary.

The tertiary level Terpenes begin after the Alpha Humulene, and at this point there's a significant drop from secondary to tertiary levels. We go from 0.32% down to 0.19% in Caryophyllene Oxide. And when we consider the top of the tertiary, Caryophyllene oxide that is literally oxidized beta Caryophyllene. We know we have BETA CARYOPHYLLENE present not Trans Caryophyllene. Even though trans Caryophyllene is the most common form of Beta Caryophyllene, beta Caryophyllene is characteristic of indica. That doesn't mean trans Caryophyllene is representative of sativa, but it occurs more than beta Caryophyllene.

I label them and orient the protocol this way because when beta Caryophyllene presents even in sativa it is literally the only way in which indica expresses on Sativas profile. Again, this is the bridge Terpene, one of 3 (at the moment linalool, Humulene, beta/trans Caryophyllene) and this is the reason I have for why this characteristic of aindica presents on Sativa while the standard indica characteristic doesn't diminish sativa characteristic or express indica characteristic on the Sativas profile. So it isn't surprising that we see that gap in the Humulene supporting the beta Caryophyllene level along side linalool as is typically most characteristic of indica expression.

Yes typically for more indica dominance we look for Humulene and linalool near the level of beta Caryophyllene, presenting the primary level of Terpenes altogether. However, we have only 2 secondary level Terpenes, Humulene and the other bridge Terpene Beta Myrcene. That one is the most difficult to fully understand the impact of on cannabis experience and presentation but is absolutely necessary to do so. Myrcene effects how the THC is absorbed dependent largely on the level of Myrcene and the ratio to beta/trans Caryophyllene. Myrcene alone or in higher levels than the present beta Caryophyllene acts to proliferate THC across the Blood Brain Barrier, enhancing psychoactive effect. When Myrcene is with Beta Caryophyllene in that form it acts on CB2 RECEOTORS enhancing the relaxing sedating characteristic of beta Caryophyllene.

When Myrcene is amplified to a particular range over beta Caryophyllene, it pulls that CB1 psychoactivity back into the picture. Then after that weird range, around 3x the beta Caryophyllene, the Myrcene tends to seem to act more on sedation again but the psychoactive kick at that level maintains. It doesn't really get more psychoactive after that level / RANGE but it does impact how much more quickly, for example beta Caryophyllene hits when it comes on. Myrcene is 0.26% and Humulene at 0.32%, that's out Secondary level. So while we may have a break between the indica characteristics Terpenes, the top of the catagorization is all indica expressive.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (10)

The green apple undertone that is very earthy and indica presenting, is DEFINATELY more common and characteristic TYPICALLY of sativa. The earthy overtones and accents of the green apple, and lack of tang noted in a sativa presenting apple, that aromatic profile falls in line with the indica leaning 70/30 hybrid that Apple Earth is actually. While limonene is lemon, citrus, orange it can present with that apple orientation especially in Indica. It's very intersting that the amalgam of aromas and flavors can come from the same Terpenes, at varrying levels.

The pinene lean formula works perfectly in the case we have in Apple Earth. Alpha Pinene tests at 0.03% and beta pinene is 0.07%. In total that is 0.10%. REMEMBER, thepinen lean formula is in several articles and posts, burning short is Alpha pinene plus Beta pinene, each taken against the sum of the two as a ratio is the ratio of indica to sativa. Alpha pinene is characteristic of sativa in this formula and beta of indica. That's a 70/30 indica dominant hybrid. 0.07% of 0.10% is 70%, and 0.03% of 0.10% is 30%. That's the 70/30 indica dominant hybrid.

The only sativa presenting expression in Apple Earth in the Terpenes is the very minor level of Terpinolene at 0.04%. Ergo, the tertiary level of our profile consists of Alpha pinene, Beta Pinene, & Terpinolene. This brings another pattern recognition tactic to mind. Does the appearance of pinene in the same level indicate anything about the cannabis terpolocally, or is it kind of an arbitrary random thing. I would venture to say it holds signficance as to both of the Pinenes are in the same categorizaton level, or if they are separated into two different levels. So, for example is it more.common to find indicas with pinene side by side, at the same level, or is it more common to see indicas with a wider spread between alpha and beta pinene, which would mean pinene is higher. If the Pinenes are spread out further does this indicate anything about how the hybrid presents. Does this correspond to anything in examples where the pinene lean formula doesn't work. In those instances we know the cannabis typically more pure genetically, having two or less parent genetics that lead to the strain at hand. So only 2 different strains between landrace and strain at hand. Typically the pinene lean formula fails here, making sense since the protocol is based on discerning hybrids chacteristics through recognition of landrace characteristics in the hybrid. When it does fail the test, meaning the formula presents something different, it usually is a flip of the assigned placement.

Ergo, a 90/10 sativa may present with 90% beta pinene, when you see a backwards pinene lean aka one that doesn't work out in the direction the rest of the profile.is directed, it is likely very pure genetically. It's surprising to see the 70/30 Have such an accurate pineme formula. I know the pinene lean formula is complex at first, but once you grasp the concept it really brings together the thinking in Terpological protocol, & in sure there's a lot more im not seeing I hope to discern in the future.

That is the total Terpenes in Apple Earth. It totals up to 4.99% Terpene profile. Another lmtjing to keep in mind is the extent of expression between sativa and indica. Yes, ok indica expresses differently, but when the Terpenes are lower, usually this is indication indica. While 4.99% is nothing to Scoff at, this is a Live concentrate. That means the cannabis was flash froze upon harvest to preserve the Terpenes, flavonoids, and other goodies in the cannabis. These concentrates have a higher Terpene profile than a curred concentrate for example. Ergo, 5% really isn't that high, but it's also not completely indica Based. That's a good way to remember indica, Based. . . earthy. . . Simplistic. . . Bare. . . Desert. Sativa is complex, vibrant, expressive, sharp, jungle. However, that is by no means a hard and fast set rule, just more.of a guideline as I have on hand right now Mexican Flan Indica Hybrid and it has over 9% Terpene profile.

The same exact thing is done with the cannabinoid profile to comprehend the characteristic presence of either lean through their heirarchecsl categorized levels based on the cannabinoid levels. The total for cannabinoids comes to 77.42% on the confirmation of analysis for Apple Earth. Immediately from this level alone we can start to presume a little about the strain. We know that Sativas tend to present with higher THC levels. Think traditional cannabis knowledge. Sativas present higher or are.more.likely expressive in higher levels of THC while Indica is more so expressive or characterized by, is characteristic of Indica.

Knowing that a ThC isolate behind around 90%, and Live concentrates are typically low to mid 80%, with curred concentrate usually at low 80s and mid to high seventy percent levels. We can venture to say that the 77.42% in a live resin isn't really expressing Sativa Dominant energy. That 77% on a live blend is rather on the lower end of THCa. Remember, for the new readers or anyone who forgot, THC is merely the decarboxylated THCa. Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid transforms to terahydrocanabinol with heat & Light, in our sotuatikn were dealing with heat. The reason you can't currently get a 100% isolate of anything without synthesizing it is because to get the THCa the product is partially decarboxylated.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (11)

For example in a VTA wipe for distillate. The oil flashes over as the heat from the friction of the blade.increases the temperature just enough to flash over the oil to THC, the gas where it passes through a filter via vaccum and is quickly converted back to THCa by moving it through the vaccum via super chilled rod in the center of the VTA. The molecules want to stabilize so either turn back to THCa or be evaporated with the alcohol being vacuumed off. Hence the super chilled rod and temperature differentiation.

This combination of heat to cold.gradient and a vaccum and none where the cold is in the vaccum and the heat outside acting as the catalyst coming from radiating heat and the friction of the blade against the glass creates a gradient, so think of the THC as riding a slide to the cold, perpetuated by the difference in temperature in between the vaccum and non vaccum. For fun facts alone, the residency time of the VTA is the time for which the oil under the blade remains outside the vaccum un changed before that friction adds enough to reach flash over to THC FOR A SPLIT SECOND. the amount of time to make that oil flash over is residency time, which is said to already be maximized today. So with that set up it takes one turn of the blade to convert the THCa present under the blade to THC. This is one example of the monetary decarboxylation in lab isolation and extraction in producing cannabis concentrates and why we currently don't have a 100% pure THCa naturally extracted.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (12)

The same acid to non acid molecule phenomena is true of the other cannabinoids, from CBD to THCVa. Because THCa has the highest flash point, there is no need to concern with those things that flash over hotter. By the time THCa flashes over to the current knowledge, we have decaboxylated all that can be, or all that we currently include.in a distillate. Maybe there is something present which can be extracted that cures hiccups which could be achieved my lowering the atmospheric pressure of the chamber being used for isolation to allow.for a lower boiling point, thus lower flash point.

I'm unsure what work has been done or how deeply that has been investigated beyond the THCa conversionvia decarboxylation to THC. Combustion is the igition of a material from heat, and ThcA flashes over just beyond the combustion point of cannabis. As the material is combusted one approaches total decarboxylation of the material.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (13)

So what is happening at the molecular level in decarboxylation. When one smokes cannabis we know that we inhale the combusted material or vaporized material (more specific to the flash points of carrying Terpenes and cannabinoids to Taylor the experience/control intensity) and we exhale CO². So literally the THCa is loosing CO² when it is decarbbed. Now just like beta Caryophyllene can oxidize into Caryophyllene oxide so too can THCa oxidize, except it turns into CBN. So oxidized Delta 9 THCa is CBN. That is the exposure to oxygenated environment that causes oxidation. Decarboxylation is perpetuated by heat rather than light. That's the most commone reason for oxidation and is the reason in this situation.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (14)

Now that I've discussed transformation of naturally occuring acid forms of the cannabinoid molecules via decarboxylation & Oxidation let's look into the Cannabinoid profile.totals. 77.42% already inidcates a lower than expected THC yield for live concentrates, so we know.goimg.in and from the Terpenes we seem to be very much so indica over sativa characteristic. THIS one is a bit complicated as the only Cannabinoid listed on the confirmation of analysis is THCa.

So if we did have THC, that level being very high is characteristic of Sativa even moreso than a higher THCa level. I am unsure why this is the case but when THC is above 2% or so in a live concentrate this seems to correlate conspicuously well with the sativa THC higher characteristic. Anything under 2% in a live concentrate is really what is expected, and of course the opposite is true that the less THC the more likely it is to see higher Presentation of indica. So these aren't hard and fast rules, but the heightened THCa/THC is DEFINATELY more reliable than than relying on lower levels to indicate indica. In a sense sometimes it's easier to spot sativa characteristic in THCa.

I very highly Reccomend Apple Earth to any cannabis user. It isn't too strong for the new user, though it will DEFINATELY approach the newer user with a bit more of a Punch. For the experiences user it is a very nicely calm relaxing high not too psychoactive but not too sedating. It has a nice stoney high that creeps up from initial immediate relaxing feeling. Tha relaxation creeps into an overall calm and together with the stoning blends into sedation as the experience wears on.

I seriously enjoyed the experience from the first inhale on, it literally started relaxing me andngabe me an immediate body change in my first inhale. Not even the exhale with the "bum bump" in the head, you feel itnwhen you inhale that first earthy green apple flavored golden sugar. I like the sugar as well as the Badder, and don't really know I have a preference, atleast not from this company. The sugar has a nice consistency.

The granulation isn't too small and it isn't chunky like diamonds so there's no need to break them up and mix it in the sauce or anything. Very nicely balanced sugar between the Terp sauce and THC crystals. I prefer a slightly chunkier that not sugar but not diamond sized sugar. I really enjoy Apple Earth, it gives the indica experience with a hint of the lovely taste unique exotic flavor profile of may Sativas, without the psychoactive enhanceent of Sativa.

I legitimately could not find the actual genetics of Apple Earth listed anywhere online. I couldn't even find the usual seedbank genetic map that I always include in these reviews. However, I did find the strains which I presume are the parent genetics. So I couldn't find Apple Earth but everything about the parent genetics falls in line and makes sense. Apple Earth in my best judgement is a cross of Apple Kush and Earth OG/OG Earth.

I'm a little confused about the OG Earth because it makes sense that the parent strains have a strain in common as I typically see that in Maryland. So Sour Diesel x Ghost OG & Sour Diesel x Pure Kush makes sense, the later being Apple Kush. But then Earth OG is also listed on Seedfinder as being Earth OG x Joes OG Kush, the the genetic directly.under tha is the Sour Diesel x Ghost oG.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (15)

That said,it does make a lot of sense that this is a 70/30 hybrid as well as the Pinene lean formula applying in this situation. While there is a small proximity between Apple Earth and landrace for example in Ghost OG, the complexity of the genetics lay in Sour Diesel. The proximity of the strain at hand from the landrace genetics is indicative of the application of the pinene lean formula.

As the formula is part of my independently created protocol for.better understanding hybridized cannabis experiences of today before I make my purchase, it makes sense that more pure genetics wouldn't be described through the pinene lean formula. It is literally an Intuited formula sussed out of modern hybrids by looking for landrace charcteristics and patterns in hybrid cannabis to better understand the lean of the experience comparale to the known genetic lean or ratio of indica to sativa. Therefore, proximity to landrace genetically is of great importance influencing the formula.

Purple Punch Live Resin Badder - Larry OG x Gridlock (GDP) - )80/20 Indica dominant hybrid with a ... (16)

So the complexity of this example lay only in the more complex genetic expression of Sour Diesel. This also exemplifies quite well. More complexity would indicate a more complex hybrid, meaning more hybridization. So the fact only one of the contributing genetics.is.complex.and only slightly, this correlates appropriately to the 70/30 lean of Apple Earth. It isn't quite pure genetics but certainly isnt a 50/50. Technically there three moves back to landrace genetics, and as I said less than 2 is when one steps into lack of complexity territory.

This is by no means indicating however that the protocol as a whole will not or doesn't apply to landrace cannabis. It DEFINATELY does just in a slightly different manner, as the protocol seeks those characteristics in hybrids, so seeing just said characteristics, obviously it would apply. The pinene formula however tends to not represent the reality after the 70/30 to 75/25 lean. When you get to 80% indica or sativa that lean formula tends to not work and many times.presents as a total opposite of what the rest of the profile.indicates and the actual lean.
